Teeth For Life Programme

If you would like to keep your dental health in top condition, there is no substitute for visiting us regularly, with a long-term care and treatment programme that is tailor-made to you and your needs. Remember we said you are in control.

Not only are we all unique but at different times of our lives we also require different oral hygiene regimes and treatment programmes.

However, there are some simple, generic steps for oral hygiene that are recommended by a number of national bodies, such as the British Dental Association and the British Dental Health Association.

The following simple steps will help you minimise damage and keep your teeth and gums healthy.

How To Brush Correctly

  • Brush your teeth twice a day
  • Use small circular motions when brushing
  • Make sure you get into all the nooks and crannies – at the back and sides and between the teeth
  • Brush your gums, gently, as well as your teeth

The Right Toothbrush

  • Evidence suggests there is little difference between a regular and electric toothbrush
  • Get a brush with a small head so you can get into those small gaps
  • Make sure you have soft or medium bristles to avoid damage to your teeth and gums

The Benefits Of Mouthwash

  • Using a mouthwash can help shift any particles left between the teeth
  • Check the label for contents – some contain alcohol (quite a lot in some brands), which may affect you if medication or religion does not allow you to consume alcohol

How To Use Dental Floss

  • Floss can either come as a string or as tape – personal preference should guide you as to which you should use

Flossing regularly can remove particles that accumulate between teeth at the gum line

  • Dental brushes are an option for some people, but be guided by your dentist or hygienist – the Confidental team are always on hand to advise

Whilst the above general advice could help minimise damage to your dental health, it is still essential to visit us and consult a dentist regularly.

At Confidental, our focus is on education and prevention. If you would like to have a free 10-minute assessment of your dental health, please contact us.
