Why have dental veneers?

If you’re dreaming of a brighter, more confident smile, veneers could be just what you’re looking for. Unlike braces or aligners, which can take months to work their magic, veneers can give you a stunning new smile in just two appointments. We use the latest materials to create veneers that are incredibly thin but strong, so we often need to remove very little, or even none, of your natural tooth.

Veneers are a long-lasting and natural-looking option. They can really boost your confidence and leave you smiling with pride!

Composite dental veneers

Direct composite veneers can be used as an alternative to porcelain. They look just like natural teeth and don’t require any of your natural tooth structure to be cut or removed. Composite veneers can also be used to close small gaps when braces are not suitable, or to bring slightly out of position teeth in line.

Composite veneers are bonded on top of your natural tooth, with the shape and size built up to the desired look. For a more aesthetic appearance, you can have a full set of composite veneers for an overall smile makeover.

What is the treatment process for porcelain veneers?

Once you are ready to go ahead with treatment, your teeth need to be prepared for your new veneers. A tiny part of the front of your teeth will be removed. This will be the same amount as the thickness of your veneers so that they sit perfectly.

After your teeth have been prepared, an impression of your mouth will be taken. This is sent to the dental laboratory so that they can make your veneers fit your teeth exactly. Meanwhile, we will place some temporary veneers on your teeth to protect the prepared surface underneath.

When your new veneers are ready, you will come back into the practice to have them fitted. To begin with, we will just place the new veneers over your teeth so that you can confirm that you are happy with their appearance. Once you are happy, your teeth are thoroughly cleaned and the front surface of your tooth is conditioned so that there is a good surface for the glue and veneer to stick to.

Finally, a curing light is used to activate the glue so that it permanently bonds your tooth and veneer. At the end of treatment, you will be left with a beautiful and natural-looking new smile.

Frequently asked questions

How can I look after my veneers?

Keeping your veneers looking their best is simple! Just treat them like your natural teeth - brush twice a day, floss regularly, and attend your routine dental check-ups. Our team will give you all the tips and tricks you need to maintain great oral hygiene and ensure your veneers stay sparkling.

Can veneers break?

While veneers are strong and durable, they're not indestructible. To keep them in tip-top condition, avoid habits like nail-biting, chewing on pens, or using your teeth to open things. It's also wise to be cautious with very hard foods that could potentially chip or crack your veneers.

Are veneers permanent?

In most cases, preparing your teeth for veneers involves removing a small amount of enamel. This means the treatment is considered permanent. However, with proper care, your veneers can last for up to 15 years before needing replacement.

Is dental veneer treatment painful?

You shouldn’t find either the treatment for veneers or the veneers themselves painful. We use a local anaesthetic to minimise your discomfort during the preparation and fitting process and ensure you are relaxed and ready before beginning any treatment. Most patients experience no pain or discomfort at all. You may feel some sensitivity once your veneers have been fitted, but this will go away after a few days.

Will my veneers look natural?

Absolutely! We take great care to ensure your veneers look completely natural and blend seamlessly with your existing teeth. We'll work with you to design the perfect shade, shape, and size, so your smile looks radiant and authentic.

Are veneers suitable for everyone?

While veneers are a fantastic option for many, they might not be suitable for everyone. We'll conduct a thorough consultation to assess your oral health and discuss your goals to determine if veneers are the right choice for you.
