Ear Microsuction (Ear Wax Removal)

Clear, comfortable hearing with professional ear wax removal

At Confidental, we offer safe and effective ear syringing and micro-suction services to help you hear clearly again. As ear wax removal is no longer routinely offered by the NHS, our specialist service provides patients with a professional, comfortable, and hygienic solution carried out by a trained practitioner.

What is ear microsuction?

Ear microsuction, also known as ear irrigation, is a gentle procedure that uses a controlled flow of warm water to dislodge and remove excess or compacted earwax. Depending on your needs, your practitioner may also use micro-suction, a modern technique that employs a fine suction device to safely extract wax without introducing water into the ear canal.

During your appointment, your clinician will assess your ears using a special microscope to identify any blockages before recommending the most suitable treatment option.

What to expect during your appointment

When you arrive, your practitioner will complete a brief consultation and health check to ensure that ear wax removal is safe for you. Using sterile equipment, they will then perform the ear microsuction procedure to gently clear the blockage.

Most appointments last around 10 minutes, and you’ll notice the results immediately. If the wax is particularly hard or impacted, you may be advised to apply olive oil or sodium bicarbonate drops before returning for a free follow-up appointment.

Aftercare advice

After your treatment:

  • Avoid getting water into your ears for a few days.
  • Refrain from using cotton buds or inserting objects into the ear canal.
  • If you experience any discomfort, discharge, or reduced hearing, please contact your GP.

Regular maintenance treatments every few months can help prevent wax build-up and keep your ears healthy.
